icemen (a new canadian play from governor general award-winning playwright, vern thiessen) is a story about the powerful and the powerless. set at the height of the great depression, icemen is about survival, status, wealth and the price of fighting back.

joe: in his early thirties. a farmer.
rennie: joe’s younger sibling. a big man.
f.f.: a contemporary of joe. a wealthy man.

auditions will be held on august 29, 2026, from 12pm-4pm and august 30, 2026, from 4:00pm-5:30pm, at the theatre. in calgary’s beltline (101, 215 14th ave sw).

sides will be sent via email to actors in advance of the audition. please only submit to audition if you are available for all rehearsal days and performance dates. if you have minor conflicts, please address these dates and times in your email.

engagement details

we welcome auditions from both equity and non-equity artists. any necessary permissions or arrangements with equity will be discussed/arranged via appropriate channels. all non-equity artists will be paid a fixed portion of ticket sales.
